Work-thrive balance

Work/thrive balance

Grounded in a neuro-scientific approach with the simplicity of time-tested practices, our programs are celebrated for being immediately effective.

As a husband, father, community participant and executive leader, it would be fair to say the changes that I have experienced over the past 12 months have been life-changing.

Prior to the program I found myself running to and from things to find control, but creating ambiguity and confusion in the process. I was reactive to things I could not control, yet they occupied much of my time and energy. This program helped me first refocus on myself, and in turn, to find more appreciation and compassion for those I serve.

My simple message for those looking to be better is to start practising with Manish!

Workplace Mindfulness Programs

‘Resilience’ is an inherent quality – something that is already within us all. Our resilience program helps participants discover the levers to tap into their innate resilience and build the muscle memory to make it their new baseline state, strengthening their resilience and using it more skilfully.

MoMo Resilience empowers you to shift your mind from an ‘under threat - I can’t’ state to one of ‘safety - I can’ (unlocking our wellbeing, connection, learning…). We’ll explore through a cross section of neuroscience and traditional mindfulness practices how a single breath can affect our posture, and in turn how our posture can help regulate and rewire our brains, changing how we feel, think and act.

  • Feel better

  • Connect better

  • Contribute better

Psychological Safety & Wellbeing

MoMo Resilience

Evolutionary biologists agree that a fundamental step in our evolution as humans, and a big part of why we’ve been so successful, was the development of our social mind. We require relationships to be healthy, happy and productive humans. Indeed, much of our suffering in life comes from relationship woes and misunderstandings. In MoMo Connect, we explore how to cultivate a healthier relationship with ourselves before we share our better selves with the people close to us and our wider communities.

Some MoMo Connect mindfulness techniques include Mindful Listening – building our awareness (and becoming aware of how much we’re not aware); and Mindful Talking – a practice of determining what is worth sharing (or even thinking), how to communicate it best, and when the right time is.

  • More supportive and understanding work culture

  • Improve collaboration and teamwork

  • Increase innovation and collective problem-solving

Relationships & Communication

MoMo Connect

Our minds are designed to operate in ‘Flow’ – an optimal state of human consciousness. This could look like a feeling of calm in the middle of a high-stress situation, or more like ‘full-flow’, with its moments of total absorption, when we become so focused on the task at hand that everything else falls away. Action and awareness merge. Time changes. Self vanishes. Mental and physical performance go through the roof. To some degree, we can always be in flow…but this takes practice.

MoMo Flow is a neuroscience-based, peak-performance mind training program, using traditional mindfulness techniques. We’ll learn how being able to ‘stop’ and go ‘slow’ are critical to going ‘hard/fast’ with ‘ease & flow’.

  • Improved focus & calm

  • Efficient information processing – clarity

  • Heightened creativity

  • Better decision-making, skill acquisition, and problem-solving

I had previously been introduced to mindfulness practice and coaching with Manish and found the practice to be extremely valuable both in a professional sense of which has assisted in operating at a higher level but also providing a better way of living.

Manish is a wonderful coach, and a nice guy with a truly deep knowledge of mindfulness, presented in a way which is easily understood and highly engaging. With the onset of COVID-19 in 2020, as part of our strategy to assist our global team through a very difficult and challenging time, we introduced bi-weekly virtual mindfulness coaching sessions.

The feedback from the team has been very positive and have continued on this practice with a monthly session with Manish.

In my role as Asset Engineering at Brisbane City Council I engaged Manish to deliver a workshop to my colleagues on applying mindfulness in the workplace. I received positive feedback from colleagues on what they had learned in the workshop and how they had applied what they had learned in their workplace.

For example they were more present in meetings and able to focus on the matter at hand; they were able to recognise when they were getting anxious and to feel that feeling and become more present and productive; they had a greater awareness of themselves and their work environment; they were able to pay more attention to the matters that matter through a better ability to focus and concentrate.

I highly recommend Manish Mallas from Modern Monk Journey to you and your colleagues.

Thank you most sincerely for the Mindfulness session you recently conducted with our staff. First session of the first day of professional development for the year is not necessarily the easiest session to lead, but the manner in which you presented, kept the interest and enthusiasm of every member of staff for the full ninety minutes. As I commented afterwards, in the two years I have been principal of St Elizabeth’s, it is the most committed and focused I have seen the staff.

My goals in undertaking Mindfulness with staff were to give people the tools to be able to manage stress and also to build greater resilience in dealing with these difficulties. The ninety minutes session you conducted spoke directly to these areas and did so from both scientific approaches, referencing brain function as well as more meditative, pastoral approaches. That combination was very effective with our staff.

As I commented afterwards, in the two years I have been principal of St Elizabeth’s, it is the most committed and focused I have seen the staff.

Speaking to approx 600 electricians (and related and office staff) at early morning toolbox talks.

The sessions were great – our team found it very engaging and we have had great feedback. Manish was able to present the mindfulness techniques in a way that was easily utilised by both our office staff and field teams. The talk resonated well with our team members as all the content was related back to the industry we work in and Manish was able to take what can be a difficult concept to understand and make it real.

We also really appreciated the flexibility as we had a number of sessions scheduled for our different teams. This is the second time we’ve invited Manish to speak to our teams and we would definitely work with him again.

Manish was able to take what can be a difficult concept to understand and make it real.

I thought the challenge was to turn up everyday but the reality was that the challenge came from what I discovered about myself.

The 30 day challenge was so much more than I ever anticipated. I thought the challenge was to turn up everyday but the reality was that the challenge came from what I discovered about myself. I never expected the changes that have begun to manifest, not only from the practice, but from the discussions and the connection with the 'community of practice'.

The daily practice has started to create a deeper level of focus and awareness that I am able to return to in the times I am challenged by thoughts and emotions. The benefit I wasn't expecting was the improvement in my productivity as the focus has carried through my day. I am so grateful to have participated, to have connected with so many amazing people and to have built a daily habit that will keep burning that candle.
